Your 2021 Richmond Folk Festival guide

The Richmond Folk Festival returns to the riverfront tomorrow and will continue through Sunday. A few weeks ago, we did a run-down of some performances we’re looking forward tonow, let’s folk-us on the logistics. 

🎻 Festival hours

  • Friday | 6:30-10 p.m. 
  • Saturday | 1-9:30 p.m. 
  • Sunday | 1-6 p.m. 

🎻 Health + safety

Audiences are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated, wear masks, and maintain social distancing practices during the festival. Volunteers will be handing out free masks throughout the weekend. 

Pro tip: the festival is offering free COVID vaccinations onsite on Sat. + Sun. from 3-5 p.m. Make an appointment or walk up to the tent to get a shot.

🎻 Parking

Streets leading into the site will be closed to vehicular traffic at Canal St. The following parking lots are available downtown, at various rates. 

  • Shockoe Bottom, 100 Virginia St. 
  • Crowne Plaza, 55 E. Canal St. 
  • 801 E. Cary St. 
  • 1200 E. Byrd St. 

Attendees are also encouraged to use rideshare, bike, walk, or ride the bus to the site. See more transportation information here

🎻 Stages

The festival features 5 stages with different performance schedules. The festival map details where stages are located as well as paths between stages. 

  • The Altria Stage + Richmond Times-Dispatch Virginia Folklife Stage are located off Tredegar St. 
  • The Community Foundation Stage is off 5th St. 
  • Cross the bridge to Brown’s Island to find The CoStar Group Stage and the Dominion Energy Dance Pavilion.  

If you can’t make it one day but still want to listen, stream VPM Music or tune in to 107.3 FM or 93.1 FM for a live broadcast from the Altria Stage.
