• On Monday, workers removed the Lost Cause statue of Confederate general A.P. Hill that stood in the intersection of Laburnum and Hermitage. The statue was the last city-owned Confederate monument to come down — its removal was delayed because Hill’s remains were buried beneath the monument in 1891. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

• Developers are looking to raze the Quality Inn Central hotel just north of the Diamond and build a 375-unit apartment complex in its place.
