Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a big month for Virginia Physicians for Women (VPFW). Throughout October, the womenโs health provider is in the community participating in events, fundraising for organizations + offering specials โ all to support and raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of mammograms.
Tying it all together, VPFW is also hosting a Pink Purse Raffle, with prize values up to $2,000. Read: Participation in most of the monthโs activities includes a raffle entry.
Here are six ways to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month with VPFW (activities with a purse ๐ include a Pink Purse Raffle entry):
- Get a free mammogram (for the uninsured). VPFW is offering a select number of free mammograms to uninsured women. Call (804) 897-2100 to learn more, check availability + schedule an appointment.
- Walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K. Join the VPFW 5K team at Libbie Mill on Sun., Oct. 16 to walk for your health, raise awareness + funds for breast cancer, and be entered in the raffle. Pro tip: The course includes a Pink Ribbon Scavenger Hunt. ๐
- Donate caps + cards for cancer patients. Caps for Cancer and Cards for a Cause are initiatives started by VPFW patient Suzie Adams to give new or homemade hats, scarves, and uplifting cards to cancer patients. Donate items to any VPFW location throughout October. ๐
- Fundraise for research. Support breast cancer research + advocacy by donating to the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation via the VPFW fundraising page by Mon., Oct. 31. ๐
