Dachtoberfest — the River City’s celebration of all things wiener dog — will convene at Richmond Raceway on Saturday, Sept. 30.

After last year’s inaugural event sold out, organizers decided to bring the event to a larger venue this time around. This year’s festivities will be held at the complex’s Old Dominion Building .

Dachtoberfest 2023 will feature wiener dog racing, costume contests, raffles, vendors, food trucks, guest speakers, agility demonstrations, and more. Though dachshunds may be the stars of the show, all dogs are welcome.

The event is organized by the Dachshund Enlightenment Foundation, a nonprofit focused on creating open dialogue between dachshund owners, breeders, rescue organizations, and veterinarians. Tickets are $10 in advance until Thursday, Sept. 28 at 5 p.m. or $15 at the door. Parking is free.
