Recycle your electronics on Richmond E-Cycle Day

The City of Richmond will host a drive-through E-Cycle Day to collect residents’ recyclable electronics and hazardous waste.

A person carries an old television in front of two stacks of donated electronics, sitting atop wooden pallets in a gravel and dirt lot.

This photo was actually pulled from a 2012 e-cycle event in Richmond. Think we’ll see any of the same electronics this time around?

Saturday, Sept. 13, is Richmond E-Cycle Day. What does that mean? The City of Richmond will operate a drive-through for residents to drop off unusable electronics, hazardous waste items, and recyclable paper.

It saves you from the household clutter, and it protects our waterways from pollution.

Items can include:

  • Electronics, like computer systems + accessories, cables, televisions, scanners, etc.
  • Hazardous waste, like bug spray, rodent poison, and oil-based paint
  • Up to five boxes or brown-bags of paper for shredding

Paper and hazardous waste drop-offs are free of charge, but certain electronics may incur fees ranging from $5 to $37. According to the list of fees from the spring E-Cycle Day, monitors and televisions were the only common items with fees over $20. Check for updated fee regulations on the city website.

Richmond E-Cycle Day will last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1710 Robin Hood Rd., near North Arthur Ashe Boulevard.

Note: If your unwanted items are in working condition or repairable, consider bringing them to a local donation center.
