Get on the road
Kick off the road trip from one of Prince George County’s stops on the 5&Dime driving route which features many of the sites and attractions mentioned below along this historic and scenic route. Check in, get points, and earn rewards with the Passport Program for Route 5 and Route 10.
Head outdoors
Soar through trees on a zipline, climb the high-ropes course, or try your hand at axe throwing with a visit to Tree Time Adventures.

Health
The State Health Commissioner has rejected a proposed $234 million HCA Healthcare hospital in Hanover County. The state cited a lack of need for another hospital in the region and potential harm to the nearby Bon Secours. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

Lamplighter Coffee in the Fan has announced its Fall Ball, set for 3-8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14. Bands will play in the green space across from the shop and Lamplighter will serve vegan and beef hot dogs.

A new exhibit opens at the VMFA on Saturday, Nov. 18. “Dawoud Bey: Elegy” features works of film and photography by the renowned contemporary artist.
An exploration of the early experiences of enslaved people America, the exhibition features three photo series and two film installations. Two of the works were created in Richmond.

Named for a line from “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” the photo series “Stony the Road”centers around the Richmond Slave Trail, which traces the path of enslaved people brought through Richmond. The film “350,000" was produced in collaboration with local production companies, choreographers, musicians, and dancers.
At the media preview for the exhibit, Bey spoke about his work as his subjective take on history, visualized. Bey views his work as a means of conflating past and present, rather than a documentation of historical events.
