Startup Virginia
You can apply to join this high-growth business incubator and entrepreneurial hub as a member, mentor, or investor. The twice-yearly Idea Factory program is a good option for entrepreneurs with a compelling business idea in need of the resources and guidance to turn it into reality.

ChamberRVA
This group serves members in the city and seven surrounding counties. For young entrepreneurs, check out Helping Young Professionals Engage (HYPE), which hosts programs throughout the year.

Metropolitan Business League

Civic
  • City offices, several community centers, and the DPU Call Center are closed today in observance of Veterans Day. Honor our military personnel at the Virginia War Memorial’s Veterans Day Ceremony today at 11 a.m.
Opening
  • Sincero is welcoming guests to its new brick-and-mortar location in Jackson Ward today. The Mexican-American restaurant has moved into the former Lucy’s Reserve spot. Snag a reservation for today or tomorrow to get in on opening weekend.
Open
  • There’s a new brewery open near the intersection of Patterson Avenue and Pump Road in Henrico. WayGone Brewery comes from two married couples who developed a passion for homebrewing several years ago. (Richmond BizSense)
Transit
  • Several GRTC routes will be impacted by street closures due to the Richmond Marathon tomorrow. Pulse station from Scott’s Addition to VCU Medical Center will be closed and will reopen throughout the day.
Outdoors
  • Community members are invited to a Carytown Clean Up event this Sunday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. Meet with the group at Beasties — pick up bags, gloves, and pickers will be provided.

  • Richmond Animal Care and Control is looking for prospective homes for its Thanksgiving foster program. If you will be home for the holiday and can help foster a dog or cat from Sunday, Nov. 19 to Friday, Dec.1, send RACC an email.

  • Hear from local author Kathi Clark Wong at the Tuesday, Nov. 14 meeting of the Library of Virginia’s virtual Common Ground book group. Discuss Wong’s book, “Nickelodeons and Black Vaudeville: The Forgotten Story of Amanda Thorp” before the author joins for a Q+A. The event is free; registration is required.

The Kickers have unveiled a new version of their membership program, which gives fans discounts and priority access to various events put on throughout the season.

Formerly known as Kickers+, the CityStadium+ membership will include savings for the Kickers as well as the upcoming USL W League expansion team, coming in the spring.

The membership is currently priced at $50 and includes:
  • Discounts of up to $10 for regular-season Kickers and W League RVA home games
  • 15% off merch online and in person
  • First access to special events including exhibition and playoff matches
