County leaders held a ribbon cutting to officially welcome residents back to Cheswick Park, Henrico’s oldest neighborhood park.
Planning for Cheswick’s $2.1 million renovation began in Sept. 2021. The Three Chopt area park has been closed to the public since the end of Feb. 2023.
Updates to Cheswick Park include new playground equipment, improvement to the trails and facilities, a fitness area, and better stormwater management infrastructure.
Increased signage will be coming to the park soon. Once the weather warms, the playground will receive a new rubberized surface.
Recreation & Parks Director John Zannino said that the county plans to celebrate the renovation at a community event in April complete with food trucks.
