Welcome to June, Richmond. This month means more nights at the Diamond and City Stadium, the end of another rocking Friday Cheers season, and hundreds more local events to get you out and enjoying the River City.
Here are a few highlights.
Manchester Manifest First Friday | June 7 | Hull Street, 11th-14th Streets
The Southside market series returns this Friday with local vendors, live music, food trucks, and activities.
Summer Kickoff Festival | June 7-8 | Maymont
The Carriage House Lawn will host local tribute bands Full Moon Fever and Three Sheets to the Wind on Friday, followed by five groups throughout the day on Saturday.
The summer starts at Maymont with two days of celebrations.

Love on Tap | June 8 | Hardywood Park Craft Brewery
Get ready for drag performances, a local makers market, live music, and Tropic Like It’s Hot and Bubby’s Blackberry Cobbler on draft.
Ivy vs. Patuxent FA | June 13 | City Stadium
The Ivy return to the River City for Women’s Empowerment Night, featuring eats from Real Ginger, Coalesce Coffee, La Boot, and Shakedown Eats.
Robin here: I’ve got this match starred on my calendar since I had such a great time at the sold-out opener.
Ivy games include great soccer, local eats, and a crowd energy like no other.

Health
The Richmond and Henrico Health Districts want residents to share what health and social issues matter most to them. Complete the Community Health Assessment before July 31 to contribute. Pro tip: You might spot RHHD representatives encouraging folks to take the survey at community events around town this summer.
Eat
Here’s your excuse not to cook dinner — Dine Out For Pride kicks off today and continues through Sunday, June 9. Enjoy Pride-themed specials at 25+ participating restaurants and $1 of each item sold will be donated to OutRBA and Diversity Richmond.
Drink
The River City is home to one of the Best Bars in America, according to Esquire. Fanboy earned a spot on the magazine’s list for its thoughtful ambiance, musical inclinations, and delightful menu. Bonus: The spot will please drinkers and non-drinkers alike with its mocktail offerings.
Arts
There’s a new interactive sculpture by local artist Mickael Broth — aka The Night Owl — outside the Valentine. “The Hole Truth” challenges visitors to question our methods of storytelling. Find it by the Clay Street entrance to the museum.
Announced
Richmond Ballet’s 2024-25 season will include two world premieres and five VA premieres. It kicks off in September with “Studio Finale,” a farewell to the ballet’s in-house theater before they relocate repertory performances to the VMFA in the spring. See the full schedule.

It’s time to say an official goodbye to the VCU Chili’s, which closed up for good earlier this month. It had been in business on the ground floor of the dorm building for 16 years. (Richmond BizSense)
Outdoors
Pit stops on the Capital Trail are now easier thanks to new bathrooms at Four Mile Creek Park in Henrico. The county cut a ribbon for the 900-sqft facility last week. (ABC 8News)
PlanRVA gets $1 million for pollution reduction efforts

After receiving a $1 million grant from the Environmental Protection Agency in January, PlanRVA is now in the second phase of developing a regional plan to reduce greenhouse gases.
The public engagement opportunities include a survey — open until Friday, June 28 — and several community feedback sessions.
Register to attend an in-person or virtual community session, each of which will tackle different topics addressed in the plan.
