In addition to Julio’s, it looks like another new bagel place might be on the horizon, this time south of the river. There’s a sign for a Baltik’s Bagels on the former Go Bird building on Forest Hill Avenue. It could open as soon as September. (South Richmond News)
Bar-Q, a Norfolk barbecue restaurant, is setting up shop in the Main Street space vacated by SB’s Love Shack. Owner Jayme Campbell actually worked in the space in the early 2000s, back when it was Starlite Dining & Lounge. Bar-Q aims to open by the end of the year. (Richmond BizSense)

Davvero Gelato will open the doors to its Lakeside storefront on Saturday, Sept. 7. It’s located inside a former barber shop. Stay tuned on Instagram for special events leading up to the grand opening.
Health
The city says it has sealed the sewer pipe that has been intermittently leaking into the James for months. DPU reportedly cut the pipe off from the rest of the sewer system and sealed it off on Monday. (VPM)

In 1900, Richmond was the South’s most densely populated city. ~85,000 residents resided within a five-square-mile area.
Canned beer made its debut in Richmond. On Jan. 24, 1935, the Gottfried Krueger Brewing Company delivered 2,000 cans of beer and cream ale to the 804.
The Wurlitzer Organ at The Byrd Theatre is one of about 40 surviving instruments from the Rudolph Wurlitzer Company. It was installed when the theater was built in 1928.
