Craft + Design, The Visual Arts Center of Richmond’s annual contemporary craft show, is returning for its 60th year.
From Friday, Nov. 22 to Sunday, Nov. 24, the arts community will showcase their craft at Main Street Station — and you’re invited. Highlights include:
Uptown Cheapskate is coming to the Arts District. Local franchisee Maggie Mereand has two locations of the national chain in Chesterfield already. The new spot will be in the former Ledbury storefront, and should open before the end of the year. (Richmond BizSense)
Biz
Two local entrepreneurs are pairing up to open a storefront in the former Ruby Scoops location. Design studio Marble Moon Interiors and Salt and Acid, which provides bartending services, plan to welcome customers to the space in 2025.
Cause
Mutual Aid RVA is raising money to buy the building that it currently leases to operate Meadowbridge Community Market. The free store in Northside provides groceries, household supplies, hygiene items, and more products to community members at no cost.
Number
300. That’s how many trees volunteers planted in Oak Grove on Saturday, Nov. 9. The new trees should provide increased canopy as they grow, helping to mitigate the urban heat island effect in the neighborhood. (CBS 6 News)
Holiday
The Church Hill Association’s Holiday Weekend will include a community candlelight walk on Dec. 6 and the Holiday House Tour on Dec. 8. Want to get involved? CHA is looking for volunteers, including docents for the tours.
Outdoors
The Virginia Dept. of Environmental Quality is evaluating ways to reduce climate pollution around the commonwealth. Help the effort by filling out this survey about greenhouse gas emissions — it’s open until the end of January.
Pets
Furniture gets scratched, shoes get chewed, toys go missing. These are regular occurrences in life with pets. But a $10,000 emergency surgery? That’s a whole other ball game. Fetch Pet Insurance could help you offset some of these nightmare scenarios by providing comprehensive coverage and up to 90% reimbursement.*
Health
This innovative device is changing the game of hearing aids. Its dual-processing systems separate speech from background noise, ensuring you never miss a beat. (Bonus: They’re rechargeable, comfortable, nearly invisible, and app-controlled.) Claim your free consultation.*
