We may be a few days into December, but there are plenty of events to preview. Here are a few of our picks.
Krampus Walk | Saturday, Dec. 7 | 5:30 p.m. | Carytown | Free | Year 12 of RVA Krampusnacht’s walk through Carytown will begin with a costume contest at Aquarian Bookshop — grab a pair of horns and join in or just watch the procession.
Yuletides at Agecroft: Christmas Open House | Sunday, Dec. 8 | 12-5 p.m. | Agecroft Hall | Free | Experience holiday traditions from multiple centuries, enjoy family-friendly crafts, and visit with Father Christmas.
“Mamma Mia!” | Tuesday, Dec. 10-Sunday, Dec. 15 | Times vary | Altria Theater | $36+ | Calling all dancing queens — Broadway in Richmond is bringing this touring production to the River City for eight shows.
RTA Run-A-Latke | Sunday, Dec. 15 | 9 a.m. | Weinstein JCC | $30+ | Sign up for the mile or 5K and stick around for a post-race party with hot chocolate, donuts, and latkes.

Holidaze Market | 11 a.m.-4 p.m. | Gallery5 | Free entry | Bring unwrapped, new toys to donate to the Toys for Tots drive, then sip on hot toddies while you peruse the market of local artists and crafters.
The Dominion Energy Christmas Parade is this Saturday, Dec. 7. It’ll start at the Science Museum at 10:15 a.m. and travel east to 7th Street. Find a spot along the route to see floats, marching bands, and Legendary Santa.

$19.5 million. That’s how much a Northside apartment complex sold for last month. The Spectrum building on Brook Road has 103 units. New Jersey-based buyer Conserve Holdings will take over property management and plans to renovate parts of the complex. (Richmond BizSense)

There’s still time to apply to join the city’s Public Art Commission. Although the body has been around since 1991, it was only officially codified in September — so all seats need to be filled. Learn more and apply by Saturday, Dec. 15.
Sports
The UR women’s basketball team has gotten off to a hot start — their best in 20 years. The defending Atlantic 10 champs are 8-0 to begin the season. Cheer on the Spiders as they defend home court against Georgetown tonight at 6 p.m. Tickets are $8. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

This predominately Black neighborhood’s history dates back to just before the Civil War.
Francine the Lowe’s Cat
Many Richmonders know the thrill of a Francine spotting at the Lowe’s near VCU. The relaxation-prone cat has become a local favorite in a relatively short amount of time, earning her a place among the finalists.
Southern States silos
Manchester’s history as an industrial hub is marked on the Richmond skyline in the form of the Southern States silos, which still stand near the Mayo Bridge. The building dates back to the 1940s.
East End Cemetery
Founded in 1897, several notable Richmonders are buried in this cemetery, including educator and journalist Rosa Dixon Bowser and doctor Richard Fillmore Tancil.
