Biz

Haleon, an international pharmaceutical manufacturer, is investing $54+ million to expand its Richmond-based facility. The company — which locally employs 400 people — plans to add new artificial intelligence tools to create various products faster, such as vitamins, pain relievers, and cold medicine. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

Outdoors

The James River Branch Trail is under construction, and this virtual tour is showing off the progress. Many of the photos depict the future path that is being formed in between many roadways and parking lots. (South Richmond News)

Regional

Groundhog Day is coming early to Chesterfield County. The Groundhog Day Gala will take place on Saturday, Feb. 1 — one day before the official holiday — at Pocahontas State Park at 2 p.m. Do you think Sweet Pea will see her shadow? (ABC 8)

Real Estate

A 2.4-acre plot in Scott’s Addition was sold for $13 million. The purchase was made by Hoffman & Associates, a Washington, DC-based firm, who now plans to add an additional story to the previously planned six-story building in the works for that plot. (Richmond BizSense)

Here’s a warm shout out to the Lynchburg Fire Department who saved a deer that was stranded in a river after falling through ice. The firefighters borrowed a boat and got the doe onto dry land without any reported injuries for anyone involved. (29 News)
