Have a kiddo obsessed with planes, trains, or things that go vroom?

Fuel their curiosity at “From Here to There,” an interactive summer exhibition at the Children’s Museum of Richmond that explores how we travel by land, sea, and air.

News Notes

Kids

Calling RVA’s next generation of creatives. Richmond Young Writers’ summer classes are open for registration. Students aged nine to 18 can try out Fiction 101, dabble in Dungeons and Dragons, and workshop original short films. Editor Elise: I love working with this organization and highly recommend the seasonal classes for young writers + artists.

Drink

We’re asking for your take on Richmond’s bougiest restaurants and bars. Where could you picture Carrie Bradshaw or Kendall Roy sipping on a martini? Let us know your pick.

Read

“My Friends” by Fredrik Backman, “Atmosphere” by Taylor Jenkins Reid + “Don’t Let Him In” by Lisa Jewell. Those are three of the summer’s most-anticipated books, according to Goodreads data. Give your summer reading list some local flair with books by authors with Richmond ties. (People)

Eat

Chicken strips are back at McDonald’s. The McCrispy Strips recently became the restaurant’s first permanent addition in four years. Prices can vary by location, but you can usually get a combo meal for under $15. If this isn’t your flavor, explore RVA’s local restaurants with meals under $15.

The Wrap

How would you celebrate your birthday in Richmond? Major party vibes or a low-stakes nature hang? Drop the itinerary.

My friend is throwing a birthday outing this week that tackles an impressive ratio of Richmond’s introvert/extrovert scene. First, we’re heading to the theater to see a film, then we’re rerouting to a bar for patio drinks + celebration. Quiet time vs. social time, indoors vs. outdoors — it covers all the bases.
