We used Zillow to find average rental costs in Richmond compared to state averages:
  • One-bedroom:
    • Richmond: $1,350 per month
    • State: $1,524 per month
  • Three-bedroom:
    • Richmond: $2,300 per month
    • State: $2,400 per month
Now let’s look at average home values for buyers:
  • Richmond: $372,574 (up 1.2% over the past year)
  • State: $408,459 (up 2.6% over the past year)

Tuesday was Virginia’s 2025 Primary Election. Here are the standing results: Ghazala Hashmi won the Democratic primary for Lieutenant Governor after narrowly beating former Richmond mayor Levar Stoney, while Jay Jones won a tight race to be the Democratic nominee for Attorney General. They face Republicans John Reid and Jason Miyares respectively in November.
