A third-alarm fire occurred yesterday on the 1700 block of East Main Street in Shockoe Bottom. The Richmond Fire Departmentresponded around 12:50 p.m., and the fire was declared under control by 4:15 p.m. As of last night, roads remained closed, and those without power are encouraged to use city cooling centers. The cause remains under investigation.
Civic
Mayor Danny Avula has invited regional partners to collaborate on a better water system. This initiative aims to strengthen coordination between the City of Richmond and surrounding counties. The first water advisory group meeting will take place in July, with more details to come.
Concert
“One kid. One town. One chance.” Kevin Bacon is coming to Richmond. Kevin and his brother Michael — The Bacon brothers, respectfully — will be at the Tin Pan on Quioccason Road on Saturday, Aug. 2, and tickets are flying fast.
