Development

A 12-story, 255-unit apartment building is breaking ground in Jackson Ward — the neighborhood’s tallest new building. This project started over four years ago on a former parking lot. Food for thought: Do you think Richmond’s new development ordinance will help streamline similar developments in the future? (Richmond BizSense + The Richmonder)

State

Virginia enacted several new laws yesterday, including updated seat belt requirements for adults, tougher penalties for drivers who fail to stop for pedestrians, and stricter cell phone regulations for students, among others. (Richmond Times Dispatch)

Coming Soon

Crafty folks, a new space dedicated to handmade + DIY artist products is coming to Brook Road. Set to open on Saturday, July 19, Letter will feature work from independent artists, ranging from clothes and zines to fingerboards and knick-knacks. Follow the shop on Instagram for updates.
