Relish the good times

three heavily-adorned hot dogs and a coors banquet beer
Richmond’s got no shortage of options when it comes to hot dogs — here are three from City Dogs in the Fan. | Photo by RICtoday
We asked our readers where to find the best hot dog in the River City. From the heart of the Fan to Henrico, here are a few dives dishing out hot-diggity dogs in the area.

City Dogs, The Fan
This menu reps options like the Chicago Dog, the Tennessee Slaw Dog, and the Richmond Original. Guess the price.

Pro tip: You can sub out any frank for a soy dog.

Black Lodge, Scott’s Addition
This Scott’s Addition pub offers the Alpine Dog, the Chicago Dog, and the Street Corndog.

Try this: Order a $5 Late-Nite Dog after the bar’s kitchen closes. (Colloquially known as “good roller bois.”)

Pop’s Dogs + Ma’s Burgers, Northside
This nostalgic, family-owned dive offers daily specials and combo deals. Grannie’s Junkyard Dog is a fan-favorite, boasting a hearty 12 toppings.

Good deal: Get two hot dogs, fries, and a drink for $7 — all day, every day.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Elise

Yesterday, we spotlighted a unique mural depicting a band of pups on the James River. The question remained: Where is the mural located?

Readers Jamie M. and Dirinda P. were the first to reach out with their geographical wits. “It’s located on the building next to Riverside Tavern on Forest Hill Avenue,” according to Jamie. Dirinda added: “It used to be an antique store — converted into apartments now.”

Jamie also added this helpful screenshot from Google Street View — take a closer look. Where would we be without our knowledgeable readers?
