Offering a little Richmond spin to this news, the Hollywood Cemetery Fall Photo Contest is underway, now through Friday, Nov. 21. Next Saturday, Nov. 1, the Latino Farmers Market will host a Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration featuring a community ofrenda (altar). Number
2,346 lbs. That’s how much the winning pumpkin weighed at this year’s World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off. It’s also the amount of pie it would take to get bored of the Pumpkin + Salted Caramel slice at Proper Pie Co. in Church Hill. (AP News)
Mansion Monday
A historic home just hit the market on Grove Avenue. Built in 1913, the red brick house features 6 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, and an outdoor pool — a covetable find in the city. Step through the grand entryway of this Classic Revival, and see what’s inside.
Real Estate
Mansion Monday is dedicated to intriguing architectural finds on the upper end of the price spectrum, but there’s plenty more to explore in the lower ranges. For example, we couldn’t help but imagine how warm and cozy this 1979 rancher would be in the fall. How do we feel about wood-paneled walls?
Seasonal
You’re not alone if you’re looking forward to some Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in your candy pails — it’s the most popular Halloween candy in Virginia, per Reader’s Digest. In the meantime, For the Love of Chocolate is stocking up on handmade Halloween treats in Carytown.
Kids
Visiting the most magical place on Earth is getting pricier. Single-day, single-park tickets are rising by 5% at Disney World and 8.7% at Disneyland during peak times. Save a pretty penny and keep the magic by exploring Richmond’s fun-filled, kid-friendly activities instead. (Variety)
