Yesterday, I challenged our readers to guess which scary movie I saw at The Byrd last weekend, using only a photo of the screen. Reader Jad C. came revving through the inbox with the first correct guess: “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” (1974). See what other scary screenings are coming up around town.

Southside’s Baltik’s Bagel is celebrating its first birthday on Tuesday, Oct. 14. To commemorate this milestone, Baltik’s will host a Free Bagel Day.

Customers can choose between a River City Sunrise, Smokeshow, or classic bagel with cream cheese. The offer will be available in-store on Tuesday only, with a limit of one per customer while supplies last.

With Free Bagel Day, Baltik’s intends to celebrate by revisiting its business roots. “We were completely unknown before we opened in October 2024, so we gave away bagels and bagel sandwiches for free,” says Yero Rudzinskas, founder and owner of Baltik’s Bagel.
