A message from our team

Happy Thanksgiving, Richmond. We’re scaling back our content a bit through the weekend so that our team can step away and enjoy time with loved ones. We’ll be back to our usual coverage next week!

❤️ Thankful for our small businesses

Here at RICtoday, we like to keep things local all year long, but on Small Business Saturday, the rest of the country joins us in our mission to shop small.

Founded by American Express in 2010 and cosponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration since 2011, Small Business Saturday is an initiative to bring small businesses to the forefront of the holiday shopping season on the last Saturday of November.

This year’s event falls on Saturday, Nov. 29, and we want to make shopping local as easy as possible. This map can help you find small businesses in your area.

Here are a few that caught our eye:

The Wrap

Wishing a very happy Thanksgiving to those of you who celebrate. Today, and all days, I’m thankful for you all taking the time to read the newsletter (and for putting up with my occasional puns, word plays, and sarcasm).

I’m grateful to live in Richmond — in a community that cares so deeply for one another — and I feel so lucky every time I get to highlight a local story with RICtoday. I’m also grateful for my cat, Kodak. Love that lil guy.

If you’re feeling sentimental, I would love to hear what you’re thankful for this year.
