Imagine spending your next snow day here. This historic manor is up for sale (for the first time in 50 years) in Richmond’s historic Carillon neighborhood, near Maymont. Plus, we found out some heartfelt lore while speaking with the realtor.
Year built: 1921
Estate name: William Nolde House
Style: Georgian Revival
Architect: D. Wiley Anderson Bonus:Check out another local home designed by Anderson.
Garden designer: Charles F. Gillette Fun fact: Gillette’s landscape concepts can be found at numerous Richmond destinations, including Agecroft Hall and the Virginia House.
After stumbling upon today’s listing, we reached out to the property realtor, Victoria Quilter. Turns out, the William Nolde House most recently belonged to her grandparents. Now, she has the honor of finding its new owners.
Quilter mentioned that her grandparents used to put life-size nativity scenes in the yard every winter. How would you decorate this ornate home for the holiday season? Take a look, and see if inspiration strikes.
