Survey this, survey that

We’re in the midst of a busy civic season, which means it’s an integral time to use your voice. Not everyone has time to attend council meetings or feedback workshops, but you might have time for these online surveys, which are just as important.

We found three options to help warm up your community voice.

Balance the budget

Mayor Danny Avula is set to introduce the next city budget in March. Nothing’s set in stone yet. This prioritization survey will let the city know which departments you think deserve the most attention in the 2027 fiscal year.
  • Pro tip: You’ll be balancing seven priorities by percentage of importance, totaling 100% overall.
  • Editor Elise: I’ve never been savvy with quick math, so I took no shame in whipping out a calculator for this one.
➡️ Take the survey by Saturday, Feb. 28.

Wedding planning in 2026 can come with major sticker shock — especially when it’s time to find the dress. But what if you could score a stunning look without overspending (or overconsuming)?

Our City Editor recently headed to Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia, and spoiler alert: wedding style doesn’t have to mean one-time wear or sky-high price tags.

The nonprofit is hosting its second annual Goodwill Bridal & Formal Dress Pop-Up Event at the Stratford Hills store on Saturday, March 7 at 9 a.m., offering hundreds of wedding gowns and formal styles at a fraction of retail prices.

Expect everything from bridal and bridesmaid dresses to prom looks and accessories — all while keeping beautiful garments out of landfills.

Proceeds support the organization’s workforce programs that help individuals gain skills and achieve economic independence.

Heads up: Inventory is limited. Early arrival and Eventbrite reservations are encouraged.
