News Notes

History

One of the oldest buildings in Richmond is being eyed for commercial use. The Woodward House, just east of Shockoe Bottom, is an 18th-century relic of Richmond’s old dockside neighborhood — a former hub for sailors, tobacco inspectors, and tavern keepers. Now, the building might become a coffee shop or bistro. (Richmond BizSense)

Open

Wong’s Tacos is now open in Mechanicsville, Hanover County — the third Wong’s location to open in the Richmond region. Like its sister restaurants in Short Pump and Midlothian, the menu is inspired by a fusion of Chinese and Mexican cuisines. (WRIC)

Business

Have you ever shopped around at a Swap Meet RVA market? The popular pop-up plans to settle into a brick-and-mortar space in Richmond’s Diamond District. Plus, the owners hope to operate a new coworking and community space in tandem with the market. (Richmond BizSense)

Quoted

“The only negative feedback is about the lines for food and drink…” Emily Yearman wrote in to WTVR. See what folks are saying about the Squirrels’ opening week at CarMax Park stadium, from parking and outdoor lighting to food and seating options. (WTVR)
