Know someone who skips the seat belt? Here’s why buckling up could save your life, according to the City of Richmond:

  • A crash at 30 mph feels like falling from a three-story building.
  • Without a seat belt, safety features like airbags can’t protect you.
  • A fall from a step ladder can cause serious injury — and those same forces are at play in a crash, doubling the risk of death with every 10 mph increase in speed.
