Giddy up, Richmond. The 2025 Virginia Derby is just around the corner, happening at Colonial Downs on Saturday, March 15.

This event is part of the “Road to the Kentucky Derby,” and the winning horse will snag a coveted spot at the 151st Kentucky Derby — making it one for the history books.

Guests can look forward to an action-packed day of thoroughbred racing, highlighted by the Virginia Derby and Virginia Oaks. Plus, enjoy performances by a military color guard and live music to keep the excitement going.

Want to join in the fun? General admission is just $5 and includes a limited-edition collector’s item. Additional upgrades include indoor seating, trackside dining packages, and exclusive experiences at the Colonial Downs Jockey Club.

Gates open at 10:30 a.m., so put on your best Derby-day outfit, grab a drink, and check out the competition before the races kick off at 12 p.m.
