Richmond Renaissance Faire makes its return with Warriors in Bloom, a one-day festival affair on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 12 to 5 p.m. The whimsical backdrop? Historic Agecroft Hall and Gardens.
Gathering momentum
2025 was well-met with the launch of the Richmond Renaissance Faire, backed by nonprofit Virago Alley. Come March, the Ren Faire kicked off with a fundraiser event attracting thousands. Now, make haste to sharpen thy swords once again.
Not your typical Ren Faire
Warriors in Bloom aims to transcend the spirit of a routine Ren Faire. The festival will spotlight “viragos,” a Latin term meaning “vigorous maiden” or “female warrior.” Take a deeper dive into the history here.
Through the legacies of viragos past — like Joan of Arc, Tomyris, and Rani Durgavati — the event aims to celebrate bravery, defy social norms, and empower hearty rebellion.
Not only will there be artisans, live music, and food trucks, but you can expand your Renaissance compendium with live demonstrations + curate a truly noble time with participatory activities.
A few (unexpected) things to expect:
- A puppet production of Joan of Arc
- A pickle-on-a-stick + pickle juice booth
- 20+ sword and combat demonstrations
- Scavenger hunts with RVA Faerie Federation
- Witch trials (with a Virago Alley spin)
🔗 Tickets
General admission costs $15, and a youth ticket (ages 7-15) is $12. For more information, bohold the Warriors in Bloom event page and Virago Alley’s website.
