A new restaurant is coming to downtown Richmond in less than a month. Fall Line Kitchen & Bar will open within the newly-renovated Marriott Hotel on E. Broad St. on Sept. 23.

This latest addition to Richmond’s eateries features specials like lump crab hushpuppies + wagyu steak fries. Head Chef Peyton Powell , a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Paris, says the menu brings complex flavors to the classic comfort food we all know and love ― not to mention local craft brews and cocktails.

The restaurant’s name has a very local inspiration too. Richmond and the James River are located right over what’s known as the geographical fall line , which marks the changes of Virginia’s landscape from sandy coastal waters to the start of craggy rapids, mountains + waterfalls. To play on the natural theme, the dining room features a mural hand-painted by artist Hamilton Glass .

Fall Line Kitchen & Bar has enough dining space for about 124 people and an outdoor patio for about 30, as well as a full bar. You can also rent out a private dining room for parties of about 30.

For the first few weeks, you can expect Fall Line Kitchen & Bar to be open 7 days a week after 5 p.m. It will eventually start a brunch and lunch menu with expanded hours.

While we wait for its late September opening, the managers at Fall Line say they’re looking for new people to join the team . If you’d like to start a new career or make some extra cash, there are positions open for cooks, servers, bartenders, dishwashers + hosts.
