With winter officially starting this week, eating outside might seem like a thing of the past — but that’s nothing a heater or fire pit can’t fix.
We consulted our readers and did some investigating to compile a list of places to cozy up outside — with the help of some good food and a bit of extra heat.

Development
A developer is eyeing the Greyhound station across from the Diamond for a new project. Allen Investment Properties filed plans for a mixed-use project with 650 apartments across two buildings. It would also include 10,600 sqft of retail space. (Richmond BizSense)

Shyndigz has a sweet new home at Shyndigz Market, across the street from the former restaurant location. The bakery’s new building features a gift shop, prepared foods, plenty of seating, and an espresso bar in a vintage camper. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

The finalists have been announced for the third annual RVA Sports Awards. The awards honor the athletes, teams, coaches, and moments that made the Richmond region cheer this year. Cast your vote before Monday, Jan. 15 to help determine the winners.
Kids
Know a fashionable teenager? Applications are open for Teen Stylin’, a twelve-week program at the VMFA where students learn from professional designers and create garments inspired by the museum’s collection. It’s open to teens in grades 6-12; the deadline to apply is Friday, Jan. 12.
Fun fact: The film “Titanic” came out 26 years ago tomorrow. Jack and Rose might be fictional characters, but there’s a real-world story of a Richmonder who survived the sinking.
