Six places to buy fresh bread in Richmond
Up All Night is a favorite among Northside bread lovers. | Photo by RICtoday
After we ran a list of bakeries to buy fresh bread in Richmond, we were inundated with emails alerting us that we’d made an oversight. That brings the tally to six.
Up All Night Bakery, 1221 Bellevue Ave.
A Northside mainstay, Up All Night has been in business since October of 2019. Longtime baker and pastry chef Jonathan Highfield uses a hand-built wood-fired oven. Breads tend to be ready around 9 a.m., so swing by in the late morning for fresh loaves.
Did we miss any other must-try bakeries around town? Tell us where to try a slice.
My girlfriend and I visited the VMFA’s Willie Ann Wright exhibit over the weekend, and as a fellow William & Mary alum, I have to say I really enjoyed her depictions of Williamsburg. Next on our list? “Dawoud Bey: Elegy.”
