Put your favorite spots on the map — literally. | Map via Proxi
We’re putting together a map of unofficial locations that deserve a historical marker. We can’t wait to show you the finished product, but in the meantime, we thought we’d share a submission:
“East End Cemetery. Founded in 1897 by a group of prominent Black citizens of the city of Richmond, East End Cemetery was originally incorporated as Greenwood Cemetery in 1891... This was Richmond’s African American ‘Hollywood’ in its day. Notable burials include: Rosa Dixon Bowser, educator and journalist, and Richard Fillmore Tancil, doctor and community leader.” — Sharon G.
There’s still time to put your favorite location on the map. Submit your unofficial historical marker to our local map by clicking the button below. You have until Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Theater
Virginia Rep is looking to sell its Northside Center for Arts and Education. The local theater company was able to raise enough funds in September to stay afloat, but is now following a restructuring plan to lower costs. (Richmond BizSense)
Cause
The Sub Rosa team has started a GoFundMe to support recovery efforts after the fire on the morning of Sunday, Nov. 24. The bakery says it will likely be several months before it is able to reopen.
Holiday
Help make a River City tradition happen by volunteering at the Black History Museum’s Soul Santa visits. The museum needs morning and afternoon helpers to assist with door greeting, arts and crafts, storytelling, and photos. Sign up to help on Nov. 30, Dec. 7, or Dec. 14.
