Here’s what you should know:

Events:

Mobile Soul Sunday | Sunday, March 9 | 12-5 p.m. | Monroe Park | Free | Peruse 30+ soul-elevating food trucks and let loose with live music at this kick-off food fest.

Art for the Soul | Saturday, March 15 | 6-11 p.m. | The Foundation | $150+ | VIP tickets are still available for this upscale dining experience curated by local chefs.

Stick a Fork In It: Block Party | Sunday, March 16 | 2-6 p.m. | Location TBD | Free | Round off the week with this celebration of all things RBRE.

A week of eats:

At the heart of it, RBRE week is about supporting Black-owned restaurants in RVA. Whether you’re in the mood for fine dining, a casual date, take-out, or something sweet, Richmond has a rich roster of options.

A square plate features green beans, whipped mashed potatoes, and a central earthy pink block with a sauced steak. Garnishes include a yellow-pink rose and green herbs.

Curate your week with a range of Black-owned dining options.

News Notes

Coming Soon

Beloved local bakery Sub Rosa plans to reopen in November, marking one year since the in-house fire that forced their closure. If you’ve driven through Church Hill recently, you may have noticed the building’s boarded doors and stripped interior, but things are on the up for this neighborhood staple. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

Civic

Have you received a text recently about an unpaid toll bill? Me too. Don’t be so quick to click the link. The Virginia DMV has issued warnings about scam texts regarding toll fees and E-Z pass accounts, urging residents to report all scams and pay valid bills directly through E-Z Pass. (CBS 6)

The Wrap

As a Church Hill resident, I’m so excited for Sub Rosa’s return. They deserve all the roses. I usually go for a sour cherry + pistachio croissant, but once they reopen, I might celebrate with their classic chocolate croissant — or both.
