Grab your binoculars and lace up your sneakers. Tuckahoe Creek Park is expanding with a new boardwalk and increased wetlands access. The expansion follows a 21-acre donation from The Wilton Companies, an 80-year-old real estate agency headquartered in the area.
Henrico officials and the CEO of The Wilton Companies announced the news on Monday, backed by the grassy scenery + well-timed flying geese of Tuckahoe Creek Park.

What to expect:
An additional boardwalk and trailhead named “Wilton Landing”
A new fishing pier + multiple scenic overlooks and kayak/paddle launch areas
Educational landmarks memorializing the industrial history of coal mining and railroad work in the area
A new shelter and parking area off Westbriar Drive, replacing Tuckahoe Village Recreation Association’s fire-damaged pool and tennis courts

All aboard — the 21st annual Ashland Train Day rolls in Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Plan ahead for the short drive, and join this festival featuring model train exhibits, live music and dance, food trucks, youth activities, and more.

I love the concept behind the Unfinished Objects (U.F.O.) Club at SCRAP RVA. My current unfinished project is a thrifted dollhouse I’m painting for my sister’s first baby (due in September).
