Did you know? RVA 311 is here to help with more than you think. Richmond’s non-emergency call center is available for residents to:
1. Request a new City tree to be planted
After city arborists approve the site, they’ll select an appropriate species to be planted during winter.
2. Report mosquitoes on public property
Squash your mosquito concerns by helping the city identify the source of the problem (think: potholes and standing water).
3. Request a new streetlight
Tired of driving in the dark? The city may be able to place a new light on your street.
4. Report trail issues
If you notice a trail issue like a downed tree, damaged bridge, or missing signs, snap a photo and report it here.
5. Request aging and disability support
The Office of Aging and Disability Services connects older adults (55+) and people with disabilities (18+) with programs like meal delivery, transportation, and housing.
Nonprofit Second Serve RVA proposed plans for a $15 million tennis facility near Byrd Park. Proposals include eight indoor courts + a physical location for the Black Tennis Hall of Fame. Second Serve seeks to lease the site from Richmond Public Schools, as well as resurface courts at nine schools throughout the city. (Richmond BizSense)

Last week, Sub Rosa Bakery dismantled its masonry oven, stacking dozens of carefully preserved firebricks outside, free for pickup and gone within the day. It’s the end of an era as Sub Rosa goes electric, but it may be the start of a new era for someone else.

We’ve already expressed our love for a Cherry Coke from Dot’s Back Inn, so we’re understandably excited for Riverbend’s Espresso Cherry Coke Float.

During my last trip to Shenandoah National Park, I made a pit stop at Big Meadows Wayside and found these awesome trail booklets. Now when I visit, I like to keep them in my car for some extra screen-free guidance.
You can find these booklets online, or you can make the trek to buy them in person. I mean... we’ve already set you up for the journey.
