Planning ahead for holiday travels? Airport travel can be great, but it can also be pretty stressful.

Next time you’re flying out of Richmond International Airport, we’ve got you covered with a guide that details everything you need to know, from gates and parking to nonstop flight options.

What to know

  • Map it out: If you’re like us and need to completely visualize a place before setting foot inside, these airport maps will be your saving grace.
  • TSA: RIC recommends arriving at the airport around 90 minutes prior to departure if you’re traveling during non-peak periods. For peak periods — like weekends and holidays — shoot for two hours.

Parking

Each lot and garage offers differing pricing depending on how long your car is parked.
  • Short-term parking: $4/hour (less than 60 minutes free)
  • Daily garage parking: $15/day
  • Economy parking: $10/day or $1/hour
  • Valet: $30/day

The Wrap

When airport anxiety kicks in, I like to watch walk-through videos of the airport I’m visiting. It sounds silly, but it helps quiet the irrational voice in my head trying to convince me I’ll get lost somehow and miss my flight.

Here’s a walk-through of Richmond International, including the departure drop-off, security checkpoints, baggage claim, and rental pick-up. We covered the rest of the details in our airport guide.
