Restaurant Roundup

New kids on the block

The Richmond restaurant scene is always buzzing — here’s our roundup of places that have recently welcomed customers, as well as the ones we’re looking forward to trying once they open.

October openings

Thai Boat, The Fan
Today’s the day. The family behind Mom’s Siam settled into their former Pik Nik space with a new Thai concept with a grand opening today, Oct. 9.

Taco Vegana, Church Hill
Okay, maybe we’re a few days ahead with this one, but you don’t have long to wait for this vegan taco spot to open on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Auntie Ning’s, Northside
First week of business. Occupying the former Smoky Mug location, this fan-fave pop-up settled down to dish out Filipino eats with a recent restaurant opening on Oct. 4.
Two photos showing the interior of Thai Boat; The left photo angles toward a blue ceiling; garland lights, a hanging plant, and a decorative wooden bird are a few decorations; The right photo shows a table settling with four plates and four wrapped silverware; A candle and vase with a plant sit on the table; The background is a wooden wall with a lifesaver decoration on the wall.

Take a sneak peek at Thai Boat’s themed interior.

We spare no frivolity for Francine. Now safe and sound, Francine is finally home at Richmond’s West Broad Lowe’s. She was welcomed back with a royal blue carpet, as well as an air-tagged harness.

Note: The team supporting her search has requested that locals give her plenty of space to rest and decompress for the time being. She’s had a long journey.
