Aside from season pass holders with early access, all general admission tickets will be selected at random for the Flying Squirrels’ Opening Night. | Photo via CarMax Park
Excitement is in the air as the Flying Squirrels warm up for their inaugural season at the new $115M stadium. In fact, there’s so much excitement, Squirrels officials decided to take a different approach to Opening Night ticket sales — a public lottery.
“The incredible demand from fans wanting to attend the inaugural game at CarMax Park necessitated that we think differently about the process for getting tickets,” Flying Squirrels General Manager Anthony Oppermann said.
The game takes place on Tuesday, April 7, and the lottery is open now through Friday, Feb. 27.
What is a ticket lottery?
In short, it’s a way to randomly distribute event tickets — no watching the clock and racing to a third-party sales site. Enter your name for free, wait for the lottery period to end, and see if you’re randomly selected to join the stands.
Richmond Men’s Lacrosse Takes On Maryland | 12-2:30 p.m. | Robins Stadium | $15+ | Grab tickets to see the University of Richmond men’s lacrosse team open the 2026 season against preseason ranked No. 1 Maryland Terrapins — face-off at noon.*
Editor’s note:Some events may be canceled, changed, or postponed due to weather or road conditions.
Community surveys continue to show that Richmonders want:
Continuous tree-lined sidewalks that are level and provide safe access to popular City destinations
Dignified places to wait to access reliable, frequent transit
Drivers to slow down and stop for people crossing the street
Their government to collaborate to obtain resources to improve infrastructure and safety culture
This feedback is pivotal in enhancing sidewalk access to transit services for people with disabilities, ensuring these services reach every neighborhood, especially those historically overlooked.
These are important connections for people who walk or roll along city streets. Each voice matters in helping to create a more inclusive, thriving Richmond.
