Flying Squirrels to host ticket lottery for Opening Night

Baseball fans and anyone curious about the new stadium have until Friday, Feb. 27, to enter a randomized ticket lottery for Opening Night at CarMax Park.

Aside from season pass holders with early access, all general admission tickets will be selected at random for the Flying Squirrels’ Opening Night.

Excitement is in the air as the Flying Squirrels warm up for their inaugural season at the new $115M stadium. In fact, there’s so much excitement, the stadium staff have come up with a different way to divvy Opening Night tickets — a public lottery.

“The incredible demand from fans wanting to attend the inaugural game at CarMax Park necessitated that we think differently about the process for getting tickets to this historic event,” Flying Squirrels General Manager Anthony Oppermann said.

The game takes place on Tuesday, April 7. The lottery will remain open now through Friday, Feb. 27, and each individual is allotted one entry per email address. Sign up for the lottery.

What is a ticket lottery?

In short, it’s a way to randomly distribute event tickets — no watching the clock and racing to a third-party sales site. Enter your name, wait for the lottery period to end, and see if you’re randomly drawn.

If your name is drawn, does that mean you get tickets for free?

No. The lottery is free to enter, but if selected, you will be given the opportunity to purchase up to four $10+ tickets.

How do you know if you’re selected?

An official Flying Squirrels account will send over a ticket purchasing link. Keep an eye out. The link will only be active for 24 hours.

Can you bypass the lottery to get tickets?

If you purchase a season membership, you get early access to purchase as many Opening Night tickets as memberships on your account.
