Five minutes (or less) is all it could take to make a teacher’s day.

Remember the teacher who made an impact in your life? Now’s your chance to tell thembut the deadline is just two weeks away.

In partnership with The Supply Room, the Virginia Lottery’s Thank a Teacher program invites Virginians to recognize K-12 educators making a difference every day.

Send a thank-you note by May 8 and your teacher could win prizes for themselves and their school.
Showing appreciation has never been easier

Opening

“Coming soooooooon!” That’s the eager message on the front door of Deeper Dive, an ice cream parlor planning to open in Monroe Ward this summer. Owner Joseph Gleeson moved to Richmond ~2 years ago, but he’s been working in restaurants for decades. Looks like his recipes are already spinning into shape. (WTVR + Richmond BizSense)

Travel

A new Virginia Breeze bus route got rolling earlier this week, connecting 10 cities from the Valley to the coast, and two Richmond pit-stops are en route. Take a look at the list of destinations, and check out daily ticket prices starting at $12.

Civic

At next Monday’s Council meeting on April 27, city representatives will consider a street designation in honor of the late Valentine museum director and community advocate Bill Martin. The designation would be on the same block as the Valentine on East Clay Street.

Watch

Have you checked in on the Richmond Falcon Cam lately? Our feathery celebrities have been taking turns incubating four precious eggs, which are due to hatch very soon — between this Saturday, April 25, and Monday, April 27, according to Virginia DWR.

Edu

VCU board members will vote on the election of two new degrees today — a master’s program in pharmaceutical engineering and a bachelor’s program in public health. The public health program would also introduce a handful of new staff openings. (Commonwealth Times)

Today Is

National Picnic Day. Consider this your sign to finally try one of Richmond’s new restaurants — just take your order to-go and claim a patch of grass somewhere scenic.

Pro Tip

Every Thursday, lululemon adds new markdowns to its We Made Too Much section. Read: Deals, on deals, on deals. We’re eyeing this breathable short sleeve tee that’s perfect for warm-weather workouts, or this cropped legging that’s a great price for lululemon leggings.*
