Ready, set, race, Richmond. The Virginia State Parks Adventure Series is back with 20 races, and it all kicks off on March 8.
This year’s edition will span 11 different parks in RVA + runs from March through early September, so there’s plenty of time to train and get in on the action. And we highly recommend training because these feats of strength aren’t for the faint of heart.
The races will task Richmonders and beyond with extreme mountain biking, 7-mile sprints switching between running and kayaking, and ultramarathons. But if you want to just join the fun, the 5K seems like the “easiest” entry point where participants can walk or run at their own pace.

- Sept. 20: Paw Paw 5- and 10-Miler at Powhatan State Park
- Oct. 4: High Bridge Half Marathon and 5k at High Bridge Trail State Park
- Oct. 5: Pocahontas Trail Festival at Pocahontas State Park
