Casta’s Rum Bar opens new location downtown

The second location for the DC-based eatery opens to the public Wed., Oct. 26.

A new downtown restaurant is opening todayCasta’s Rum Bar.

The Cuban restaurant and bar is expanding into the River City from Washington, DC. That spot won several awards — including Best New Restaurant and Best Gathering Place— this year.

Guests at the East Main Street eatery can expect a menu stuffed with island inspirationthink empanadas, ceviche, and Cuban sandwiches. As the name implies, the bar will feature 80+ specialty rums that change seasonally.

The space, which includes indoor seating + a covered patio, is decorated with tropical plants, a light-up bar, a DJ booth, and artwork by Hamilton Glass.

Bonus: Casta’s is getting into the holiday spirit with a Halloween Freaky-tona Costume Party for its first Saturday night open. The free 21+ event will feature specialty cocktails and a live DJ, and will run from 9 p.m.-2 a.m.
