Celebrate Arbor Day RVA with Reforest Richmond

Tree planting, pruning invasive plants, and local park tours are just a few ways Richmonders can get involved with a week of Arbor Day honors

National Arbor Day may be in April, but Richmond celebrates a week-long version of the holiday in the fall — after all, it’s a great time to plant trees.

Local nonprofit Reforest Richmond has gathered a variety of events hosted by groups around the 804 to celebrate ArborDayRVA, which officially runs from Friday, Oct. 20 until Sunday, Oct. 29.

Here are a few highlights:

  • Kickoff Happy Hour + Pop-up Tree Giveaway | Friday, Oct. 20 | 5-6:30 p.m. | Garden Grove Brewing and Urban Winery
  • Plant I.D. Tour of the Low Line | Saturday, Oct. 21 | 10-11 a.m. | Great Shiplock Park
  • Invasive Plant Removal | Tuesday, Oct. 24 | 9-11 a.m. | Pony Pasture
  • Tree Equity Score Analyzer (TESA) Training | Thursday, Oct. 26 | 5:30-7:30 p.m. | Boys & Girls Club of Metro Richmond
  • Rain Barrel Workshop | Saturday, Oct. 28 | 10 a.m. | RPL Main Branch
