Find out how to help stock a community fridge this holiday season.

Take what you need and leave what you can. Neighbors helping neighbors. Cooperation for the common good.

Those are some of the phrases painted onto RVA Community Fridges’ colorful food havens, where donating or finding food can be as simple as walking up and opening the fridge door. The organization operates 15 fridges across the city, all accessible 24/7.

Seeking support for the holidays

As of Tuesday, Nov. 6, the organization launched a Thanksgiving Food Drive to help stock neighborhood fridges with ready-to-go holiday meals.

Anyone interested in donating can fill out an online form, select a fridge to support, and sign up for one of three drop-off dates — Friday, Nov. 28-Sunday, Nov. 30. Drop-off can be made at any time within the selected date.

Donation options include side dishes, bread, proteins, desserts, vegan alternatives, or any other fridge or pantry items that inspire a comforting holiday meal.
