If you were standing on the street in Richmond and we appeared, handed you $100, and told you to spend it on some local fun, what would you do?

When asked our readers and Instagram followers for their ideas, we received nearly 150 responses. Here are a few of the schemes you suggested:

Chow down

  • “Make a reservation at L’Opossum!” — Michele U.

  • “Spend it all on Richmond native plants” — @moultonhotnatives

Hit the town

  • “Buy tickets for one of the upcoming local music venues such as The Broadway or The National. I would pre book to visit the Van Gogh immersive experience and then I’d take the rest and buy gelato and go and sit and eat it on the banks of the river at Robious Landing.” — Amanda B.
  • “Membership to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden! 365 days to enjoy the magic for the cost of a night out ... a no brainer!” — Bonnie H.
  • “Book a canal ride! Haven’t done one of those yet and lived in RVA all my life!” — @ereena10
  • “I’d do an escape room and a river boat cruise” — @whosthtgirl
  • “Go to Chewy’s Bagels for breakfast because I’ve never been there before, then I’d go to the Library of Virginia to get a library card and explore the space. Then I’d go to the Valentine Museum until I got hungry. Lunch at TBT El Gallo bc I’ve never been there either. Then I’d go window shopping in Carytown, buy a piece of jewelry at Bygones, then hit the Byrd” — @pilsa100
  • “Dinner at Arianna’s Italian followed by a show at Coalition Theater” — @rvacomedy

Share the love

Editor David would blow at least $50 at Deep Groove Records, then stop by Garnett’s for the date night deal and pick up two tickets at the Byrd.
Editor Robin would stock up on craft supplies from SCRAP Creative Reuse, then pick up some pints at Scoop.
