The home of the Virginia State Fair is playing host to the second annual Virginia Farm Festival this weekend on Sat., May 7 + Sun, May 8.

We’re harvesting the highlights happening at Meadow Event Park in Doswell.

As the festivities fall on Mother’s Day weekend, there’s a special Mom’s Moment event Sunday at Meadow Hall. Grab a MOMosa, a cute photo + sign up for a raffle prize.

The kids can learn about farm animals, explore farming equipment and pedal around a track in their own mini tractor. Don’t forget about the pony rides with Whispering Pines. Pro tip: The pony rides do cost extra + need a waiver signed.

There will also be an Agriculture Challenge designed for all ages with VSU’s Mobile Ag Ed trailer. Food demos and culinary classes will be set up with new recipes + discussions of farm to table cuisine.

Dozens of vendors will line the grounds, including food trucks like Paulette’s Plates + Drizzle D’s doughnuts. The Kickers and Flying Squirrels will also switch off booths each day by the Agtivity Zone. Applications are still open for vendors and volunteers wanting to help out.

Visitors can explore all of these activities while grooving to the bluegrass tunes of the Virginia duo Davis Bradley, who will be playing both days.
