Whether you havetrick-or-treaters at home or are looking for a party for grown-up goblins and ghouls, we’ve curated a list of local Halloween events taking place at the end of October.

Saturday, Oct. 28

The Beet Box is shuttering its location at Hatch Local Food Hall. An original tenant in the space, the juice bar will remain open at its location on Cary Street.
Traffic
The intersection of Huguenot and Cherokee roads on Southside is getting a new traffic signal. Starting Monday, Oct. 30, right turn lanes on Cherokee will be closed for work on the installation. The project is scheduled for completion in the spring.
Biz
Richmond and Petersburg have been designated an Advanced Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Tech Hub, one of only 31 in the country. The federal designation opens the region up to increased funding opportunities. (Virginia Business)
Real Estate
Seminole Trail Management bought two office buildings in Innsbrook for $25 million. The deal adds to the Charlottesville firm’s portfolio in the neighborhood — last year it bought 11 office buildings there for $119 million. (Richmond BizSense)
Regional
Kings Dominion is reversing course on its year-round calendar. The theme park operated in January and February in 2023 but won’t in 2024, instead closing the gates after WinterFest ends in December. (NBC12)
Network
Mingle with neighbors, community members, and business owners at the Arts District‘s community mixer tomorrow from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elegba Folklore Society. The event will include light snacks and drinks and no reservation is required.

Hear from local author Rachel Beanland at a reading and Q+A event this Saturday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. Beanland will read from her novel “The House Is on Fire,” inspired by the Richmond Theatre fire in 1811.
