The National, Capitol District
Capacity: 1,500

This downtown venue hosts a variety of performers from up-and-coming rappers to larger indie acts to reunion tours.

Dominion Energy Center Carpenter Theatre, City Center
Capacity: 1,800

This classic Richmond venue hosts traveling acts as well as many performances by the Richmond Ballet and Richmond Symphony.

The Broadberry, The Fan
Capacity: 500

Grab a seat at the 60-foot bar or a table, or join the crowd and enjoy an intimate concert experience.

  • The Richmond area’s Shake Shack count is growing to three. The burger chain plans to open a location in Short Pump at West Village, a development near the intersection of Broad and Gayton. An opening date has not yet been announced. (Richmond BizSense)

  • VCU will retire Joey Rodriguez’s No. 12 jersey at a ceremony during the Nov. 29 game. The point guard played an instrumental role during the Rams’ Final Four run in 2011. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

  • Diversity Richmond is gathering applications and payments to support a new special license plate design. The local nonprofit will need to sell 450 plates before the start of the General Assembly session in January in order to be approved. (Virginia Mercury)
