Mentors pair up with 6th grade girls for a year of art, creativity + teamwork.

The VisArts Make Space program pairs up 6th grade girls from Anna Julia Cooper Episcopal School with local women to help create a bond through art, mentorship + quality time.

Applicants (bigs) will join their littles in creating something new once a week from October through May. Projects include everything from hand-dying curtains and designing lap desks to assembling and repurposing furniture together. That’s the making space part of the program.

By the end, there will be 14 unique spaces the girls can call their own.

Plus, the Make Space group will hold special “Girl Talk” sessions + lead field trips to other art galleries and cultural spots across Richmond.

Apply at the button below if you’re interested in inspiring the next generation. No prior arts experience needed. The deadline is tomorrow.
