Weekly wheely fun 🚴‍♂️

Biking has been at the center of Richmond’s society + everyday life for over 100 years. You might know the name Lewis Ginter (as in, Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.) He started the first cycling club in Richmond at the turn of the 20th century. Fast forward to 2021, and the streets of Richmond look a lot different.

As the founder of Basket and Bike Anne Poarch says, “Rolling along quietly at ten miles per hour, you see things you might miss from the car.”

Basket and Bike is making the act of slowing down an adventure, so locals and visitors can see our city in a whole new way. Basket +Bike can get you a classic bike rental, complete with a basket of course, daily (except for Tuesdays) as part of its multiple tour routes.

Basket and Bike also recently partnered with RVA on Wheels so you can rent a fancy Pedego electric bike for $99. Bonus: All rentals come with a helmet and a lock, so you can cruise in safety and style.

Two of the most popular rides include the Downtown Sunset Bike Tour + Discover Downtown Tour, both ending with a free drink from Urban Farmhouse to cool down. Both rides are about 2.5 hours long.

Basket + Bike can also book you special tours, like the Signature Ride. It’s a 14-hour guided tour all the way out to Upper Shirley Vineyards. There’s also a tour from the Williamsburg Winery to Jamestown Island and back. Tasting is included on both. Who needs wine + cheese when you’ve got wine and a ride? 🍷

There’s a ton of options for bike tours in Richmond, let us know where you like to pedal. 🚴
