The Richmond Chronicle is calling all creatives to get free portraits + submit work for a community yearbook, out for print next year.

School picture day, but make it way more fun.

The Richmond Chronicle is a yearbook-style zine documenting Richmond’s art scene through individual portraits and locally submitted creative work.

Whether you’re an artist yourself or an eager supporter, celebrate the part you play in Richmond’s creative community with a 2000s-reminiscent snapshot. Individuals can also submit up to 10 pieces of print-ready work for consideration, although it’s not required; stand-alone portraits are welcome just the same.

The collection will be published in the spring of 2026, then distributed and sold at local shops + markets around the city. Here’s a look back at the 2024 Richmond Chronicle making its rounds.

Upcoming portrait sessions:

  • Sunday, Nov. 2-Wednesday, Nov. 5 | The Camel | 3-6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 2-Friday, Dec. 5 | Gallery5 | 2-5 p.m.
  • Monday, Dec. 15-Thursday, Dec. 18 | The Camel | 3-6 p.m.

Both submitting work and having your portrait taken are totally free, and no sign-ups are required for the photo sessions.
